609-577-3372Al is a well respected and popular Government Affairs professional with over 30 years of experience at the Trenton state capitol. Before opening his own firm Al worked at the Stewart Agency. Since opening his own firm, Al's knowledge and expertise in New Jersey government awarded him the ability to represent a wide range of national corporate clients including Comcast, Sprint, Waste Management, and GlaxoSmithKline. Upon bringing, Eileen Kean into the firm, additional corporate, educational, and non-profit organizations have become part of the firm client profile.
Al began his career in 1980 as the Legislative Assistant to State Senator Francis J. McManimon. In 1982, he moved to the New Jersey Department of Corrections where he served as Special Assistant to New Jersey's Commissioner of Corrections. Al was responsible for all public and legislative affairs for one of New Jersey's largest and most complex cabinet agencies. Al proved to be an effective leader as he oversaw the design and construction of the massive $238 million South Woods State Prison in Cumberland County which opened in 1997. He also served as the Corrections Commissioner's liaison to the Legislature, the Governor's Office, other state agencies, business and community leaders.
Al served on the Hunterdon County Board of Taxation from 2002 to 2010, and served as President of the Board for five years. He continues to stay active in community affairs serving as Chairman of the Lambertville Board of Fire Commission. Al earned his Bachelor's degree in Public Administration and Political Science from Trenton State College in 1982, and served in the U.S. Navy for three years.
Eileen Kean, Esq.
732-804-4159Eileen Kean joined Komjathy & Stewart, LLC in 2010 and brings to the firm over twenty five years of lobbying experience including work in Washington, DC and Trenton. She is well versed in New Jersey politics and has excellent relationships with legislators on both sides of the aisle. She attended law school with Governor Chris Christie and Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno is a personal friend from the Jersey shore.
After completing her Bachelors of Arts majoring in History and Education at Rutgers College, New Jersey, Eileen began her career as a public high school American History Teacher at Shore Regional High School, West Long Branch, New Jersey. While teaching she attended the evening division of Seton Hall School of Law, Newark, New Jersey. Upon graduation and admittance to the New Jersey Bar, Eileen joined Thomas Kean Associates and began her legal career specializing in government affairs. She served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Insurance Agents of New Jersey and is the past president of the Deal School Board of Education.
Eileen moved to Washington, DC and continued her work with the Insurance industry and represented additional clients in the pharmaceutical, labor, and non-profit sector. She has an excellent relationship with the New Jersey Congressional Delegation and served as Federal Director of Government Affairs for the University of Phoenix before returning to New Jersey. Most recently, she worked as Director of Government Affairs for the Medical Society of New Jersey.
Eileen is active in the state Republican Party and President of the Neptune Township Republican Club. She is a volunteer in several non-profits in Monmouth County including the Church of the Seven United States Presidents.
